Blog Tour Q&A with Aletheianna Mercy!

Back in August, I had the awesome experience of going to a writing conference hosted by the writing program I was enrolled in (The Young Writer's Workshop if anyone is curious). 😉 Not only did I learn a whole lot and have a bunch of fun, but I also met some fellow writers from the program in person! And today, I have the ABSOLUTE pleasure of hosting a Q&A with one of the writers I met there!

This writer recently launched her own blog, so I thought it would be fun to join her blog tour to spread the work about this new corner of the blogosphere!! I'd highly recommend checking it out because this gal is such a joy to be around and I'm so thankful God gave me the opportunity to meet her at the conference! That said, why don't I go ahead and introduce her, so we can jump right into this Q&A! 😜

I present to you, the one and only, fabulous, Aletheianna Mercy!!!

(Note: my questions will be in bold font and her answers will be in normal font.)

~ Aletheianna's Life ~

What do you enjoy most about living on a farm?

It’s a very healthy environment, you learn how to milk, deliver babies, (I’ve delivered two baby goats) take care of sick/weak animals, and also a garden adds to the living agriculturally and sustainably.

Of all the animals your family has, which one is your favorite?

That’s a tough question, out of my family's animals I’d probably say Halle (Hallelujah) our pure Scottish Highland milk cow, she’s white, and very sweet!

I have three cats, and two kittens. My cats names are:

  1. Mama cat- is Tres (very sweet, has a queen-like and caring personality) 3 years old

  2. One of Tres’ kittens- K Cup (fluffy and I LOVE her, and adventurous personality) 4 months old

  3. K Cup’s sister- Charlotte (a motherly personality) 4 months old

  4. One of Tres’ latest litter- Autumn (a cute adventurous rascal personality) 5 weeks old

  5. Autumn's brother- Chorus (a cute sweet playful and cuddly personality) 5 weeks old

What's your favorite part about living in a large family? (She has 12 siblings, by the way!)

You're so close to everyone, and you all just LOVE each other, and trust each other, and it’s so awesome!

What do you love most about being homeschooled?

That you are being taught stuff you believe, that you can ask your mom or sister (whoever’s teaching that class) a question and be answered like they care, and also the BEST environment ever! Plus, we get snacks! 😃

What's it like living in Washington?

Cold lovely winters, cold muddy and then sunny springs, hot and cloudy summers, and cold and beautiful falls! The mountains are beautiful, the creek is a lovely sound, and the birds sing all the time. The sunrise and sunset are the most gorgeous and the sky is blue as blue can be!

~ Aletheianna's Writing and Her Advice ~

What excites you the most about finishing your book, The Road to Destiny?

One, that I wrote almost 200 pages at 12-13 years old, and that when it’s published I hope that people really see the message and get a real idea of what God has for them and the Hope!

What sparked the idea for it?

I just started writing one day, no idea, no plan, but just wrote. Over the year and a half, it’s changed and become a piece of work that I believe God really wants to use!

Do you have any writing-related advice that you've learned on your writing journey?

Get a writing editor, a friend, mentor, parent, sibling, anyone who is interested. Someone to see the things you didn’t see and point them out. Also, outline your story. I didn’t with this one until half-way in and it was okay, but I suggest doing it. Also, it’s okay to write something you think is okayish because you can come back and fix it, but just write, don’t stop in the middle of a horrible mistake I've made a lot!

~ Aletheianna's Random/Fun Facts ~

Do you have a favorite season?

This is a hard question, I love winter, I just love it so much! (I was also born in December! lol) I love fall, so probably winter, then spring or fall! 😀

What's your favorite Bible verse?

I love Romans 8:1-10, but the whole chapter is so awesome!

Who's your favorite Bible character?

Oh, this is a really hard one! Obviously Jesus, but also Mary (because of her faithfulness and pureness) and Ruth (because of her companionship and loyalty).

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I love this question! To sum it up, I want to be a writer/author of many good books that influence, change, and give hope to others! Be a dancer, singer/musician, have a large family and small farm and garden, and be a missionary to our Nation!

If you had a million dollars what would you do with it?

Pay off any family debts, buy land at Marble (our church) and invest in my writing career.

If you could invite three people to dinner (dead or alive) who would they be and why would you invite them?

Oh no, no, not this question! Honesty, ( *is thinking of so many Ydubbers* I’m not going to mention Ydubbers it’s too hard) probably Jesus, my little sister Abigail, (she’s in Heaven) and my nephew Nathan (who has joined her there).

Where is your dream vacation?

Hmm, I want to visit Europe, mainly Ireland, Scotland, and Italy.

~ Aletheianna's Blog ~

What inspired you to create this blog and what is the mission behind it?

Inspiration: I had really wanted to have a blog/way to share writing and Christ oriented things. On The Young Writers Workshop, people kept starting blogs and I really wanted to do something, so I started an email list. Then about two and a half months into that I started my blog, originally called “Notes of a Feather Pen” but after about three months I felt like God wanted me to change it to “Chosen for Christ” so I did.

Mission: To share God’s word, and give Hope, to share Good News, and share writing related things.

Are there any bloggers that have influenced your blogging style?

Yes, Annabelle Batie and her blog Pen & Ink, I highly suggest checking her out.

Also, Joelle Stone and her blog The Sword of the Penmaiden.

And, Caleb E. King.

Go check out all their blogs; they're so AWESOME!

What kind of posts do you enjoy writing the most (e.g., life posts, faith posts, book-related posts, etc.)?

Hmm, I love writing Faith posts though sometimes I feel like I can come across too harsh and I have to be careful about it. I also really enjoy writing more writing-related posts which I plan on doing more of.

How long did it take you to create your blog?

Well, I knew absolutely nothing about blog/website building, so I was absolutely horrible at it, but I spent about four hours the first day and a few the next, and as I have learned I have added and changed things (I’ve been blogging 5 months now) along the way. I suggest looking up YouTube tutorials on website building on whatever platform you're using, in my case it was WordPress and they have videos on their website you can watch, but I didn’t; unfortunately I decided to skip them. A problem our family has is not reading the directions and just figuring it out, we pretty much always find a way; that just takes longer sometimes…sometimes

Well, thank you for having me Victoria, and I hope y'all have a great week! 😉

Awww you're so welcome, Alea! Thank YOU for sharing these awesome answers!!
